Scotsburn ANZAC Day Ceremony
Last Friday, the Scotsburn campus held a short ANZAC Day ceremony as part of our assembly. Our Grade 6 Leaders led the service, in front of our Gallipoli Tree. All students were very respectful and spent time thinking about all that they are grateful for in their lives. During the day, students also completed a craft silhouette activity, whilst reflecting on the importance of the ANZAC spirit. We think they look great!
Interhouse Cross Country
Well done to all the Scotsburn students for giving their best efforts at last week’s cross country event at Buninyong. The sun was shining and it was lovely to see the support everyone had for each other!
Japan Day - Friday 1st May (whole day at Buninyong) - THIS WEEK!
Japan Day is this Friday 1st May! This is always a highlight on the calendar, with lots of cultural fun to be had throughout the day.
Friday will be a drop off and pick up at Buninyong, with a whole school assembly in the morning. We can’t wait to see all the amazing Japan-themed costumes!
The Japan Shop will again be open so feel free to bring along a small amount of money ($5-$10) if you wish, and each class will have an allocated time to attend.
Don’t forget to also place your orders on QKR if you are wanting a Japanese-themed lunch order.
How exciting!!!
SC2 CPR Training
Last Friday, SC2 had the opportunity to be involved in some impromptu CPR First Aid training, thanks to the Buninyong Community Playgroup and St John’s First Aid. This is a very important skill for our students to learn and refresh their knowledge on, and they did a great job participating.
SC2 Raising Rarity Excursion - Thursday 7th May
Next Thursday, SC2 will be involved in a half day excursion to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens to learn all about rare native plant species. This excursion will also be with the Buninyong STEM Scholarship students and will be run in conjunction with the Royal Botanical Gardens Victoria.
The excursion will form the beginning of a very special project that we have been invited to be part of, which is called Raising Rarity Schools Conservation Program. As part of the program, we will be assisting the Royal Botanical Gardens in growing extremely rare plant species right here on our campus, so that later in the year their seeds can be harvested to help build the numbers of these rare plant species.
Our Scotsburn students will be involved in the whole process, from planting and caring for them, through to the final stage of harvesting.
There is no cost to this excursion, however if you are yet to provide consent, please do so on Compass this week.
SC2 will start the day at Buninyong next Thursday, and finish back at Scotsburn with normal pick up arrangements.
We look forward to a great day.
Scotsburn Mothers’ Day Breakfast - Friday 8th May
We once again look forward to celebrating all of our wonderful mothers and special friends in the Scotsburn community with a Mothers’ Day Breakfast. This event will be separate from the Buninyong Mothers’ Day breakfast.
This special occasion will take place next Friday 8th May, between 8:15am and 9:30am in the old building, Scotsburn. No need to bring anything, we will have all food and drink sorted, celebrating all of the wonderful contributions our Mothers’ and special friends play in our lives.
Look out for personalised invites to come home later this week. We would love every student at Scotsburn to have a visitor in the morning!
Mother’s Day Stall - Friday 8th May
Our annual Scotsburn Mother’s Day stall is back! This is an opportunity for our students to express and learn more about gratitude, as well as giving thanks to the Mums or other significant people in their lives.
All gifts are $5, with students having the opportunity to purchase one or two gifts. Don’t forget to send some money along with your child on this day.
We have an assortment of items to choose from that the students think our Mums would like… we can’t give too many clues away!
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
