Principal's Report

Preparations are well underway for our Open Night this Thursday, and we are really looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming you all into our classrooms to see the fantastic work happening across the school. The evening will start with a special performance from our Symphonic Band in the gym, followed by open classrooms. Our passport system is back again so make sure you collect your stamps as you visit different areas of the school, as everyone with a stamped passport will go into the draw for the raffle drawn at the end of the night.
Mother's Day Drop-In
It was wonderful to see such a great turnout at our Mother's Day drop-in last Friday. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come along and celebrate. A special thank you goes to the BPS Social and Fundraising group for all their hard work in organising the morning. Your efforts in putting together these events for our community are greatly appreciated.
Join the BPS Social & Fundraising Group
As you can see from the success of last week's Mother's Day morning, our BPS Social & Fundraising group does an amazing job of organising events that bring our school community together. They are an incredibly dedicated team, and they are always looking for fresh faces and new ideas to help plan future activities. Volunteering with the group is a fantastic way to get involved in the life of the school. If you are interested in joining, please contact the school office or email the team directly at bps.parentsnetwork@gmail.com.
District Cross Country Success
As we celebrated at assembly on Friday, we had an outstanding result at last week's District Cross Country. Our team brought home not one, but two shields: the Most Improved Shield and the Proportional Shield.
While winning these awards is a fantastic achievement, what impressed me the most was the mateship and teamwork on display all day. Our students showed excellent sporting spirit, supporting one another and interacting respectfully with competitors from other schools. They were brilliant representatives for Blackburn Primary School and can be incredibly proud of their efforts on the day. Congratulations to everyone who trained hard and competed on the day and to those progressing to the next level.
BPS Podcast
A huge shout out to our Digi Tech captains, Amy and Harry, who, with the guidance of Mrs. Bennett, are doing an amazing job hosting the Blackburn PS podcast. They have put a lot of effort into this project, and it is just fantastic to see our student leaders stepping up and trying something new. Their next episode will be released this Friday, so please keep an eye on Compass for the update. If you haven't had a chance to tune in yet, or want to catch up on previous episodes, you can listen to them all at https://bps.transistor.fm/.

School Readiness Storytime and Enrolments
It was great to see a strong turnout once again at our school readiness storytime session last week. These sessions are always a wonderful way to introduce our future students to the school environment and help them feel comfortable in a classroom setting.
As a quick reminder following these sessions, we are currently accepting enrolments for our 2027 Prep intake. Applications are completed online via the VicStudents website:
For new enrolments:
