Health & PE

It has been another active and enjoyable fortnight in the Health and PE classroom!
Students have continued to develop and practise their striking skills this term through our recent tennis unit. From Foundation to Grade 6, students have picked up their racquets and worked hard to build and refine their balancing skills, hand-eye coordination and forehand technique. All students have demonstrated fantastic effort and persistence as they continue to strengthen their skills. We have also had lots of fun applying our learning through games such as Cricket Tennis and Around the World!
Our fabulous Grade 2/3 students performed their class dance at assembly this week! They had been rehearsing for several weeks and their performance was both entertaining and well timed, with students timing their movements and supporting one another. We enjoyed it so much that we all joined in! Looking forward to the Grade F/1 students presenting their class dance and teaching the rest of the school and families!
In Health, students have continued exploring our Personal Safety and Help-Seeking unit. Students have been learning about body autonomy and consent, as well as how to respectfully give, deny and seek permission in a range of everyday situations. They have also explored recognising safe and unsafe feelings, identifying trusted adults they can seek help from, and most recently, how we can support and assist others when they require help.
Today, our Grade 3–6 students enjoyed a fantastic day at the District Schools Cricket and Tennis Sports Day, held at Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve and Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club.
Our Grade 5/6 students selected either tennis or cricket and represented our school teams, competing against other schools from across the district. Our wonderful 3/4 students stepped in to join our cricket and tennis teams today - well done! They enjoyed the opportunity to further develop their skills while participating in a friendly and competitive game environment.
Well done to all of our wonderful students! Your enthusiasm, energy and willingness to participate were fantastic to see. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented our school and embraced the day.
We will finish the term with a focus on athletics, as we prepare for our annual Athletics Sports Day, which will be held early in Term 4. Stay tuned for further details!
