Year 3 & 4 – Natural Disaster-Proof Homes
Our Year 3 and 4 students have continued their learning about common Australian natural disasters and their impacts on people, communities, and the environment.
To apply their understanding in a creative and practical way, students have now begun an exciting Minecraft Education project. Working as engineers and designers, they are building homes that can withstand up to two common natural disasters in Australia, such as floods, bushfires, cyclones, or severe storms. Students are carefully considering building materials, location, safety features, and emergency planning as they create their disaster-resistant homes.
This project combines Science, Digital Technologies, and Design Thinking, encouraging students to problem-solve, collaborate, and think critically about real-world challenges.
Year 5 & 6 – Earth and Space Science
Our Year 5 and 6 students continue to make fantastic progress in their Earth and Space Science unit. Students are exploring Earth-like planets beyond our Solar System and investigating what conditions are required to support life.
Using Minecraft Education Edition, students are designing and building worlds that could support future human colonies. Their creations include sustainable living spaces, food and water systems, energy solutions, scientific laboratories, and protective structures suitable for their chosen planets. It has been wonderful to see students combining creativity, scientific thinking, and teamwork throughout this project.
SciTech Lunchtime Club Update
Our SciTech Lunchtime Club continues to provide exciting opportunities for students to explore technology, coding, and digital creativity.
Next week (Week 9), our Year 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to visit the Computer Lab during lunchtime on Monday, 15th June, for a special session organised and led by our outstanding SciTech Captains. These student leaders have been working hard to prepare engaging activities that encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and fun through technology.
We look forward to another successful lunchtime session and thank our SciTech Captains for their leadership and enthusiasm in supporting digital learning across the school.
🌟 Dream it, build it, discover it!🛸💫
