Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 9 of Term Two. Only two weeks to go!

As this is the last newsletter for the term, I would like to wish all of our families a wonderful winter break! I hope you all enjoy getting out in the fresh air or snuggling up inside and spending time together. A reminder that school finishes at 1pm on Friday June 26th.

Winter Weather Reminder

The colder weather has certainly arrived, and we are seeing many students rugging up to stay warm. Please ensure your child comes to school each day dressed appropriately for the winter conditions. Coats, scarves, beanies and other warm clothing are highly recommended, particularly during morning arrivals, recess and lunchtime. We encourage all clothing items to be clearly named to help us return any lost belongings to their owners.

Year 1 and 2 Zoo Excursion

Our Year 1 and Year 2 students are eagerly looking forward to their excursion to the zoo next Monday. This promises to be a fantastic learning experience filled with opportunities to explore and connect classroom learning with the natural world.

To ensure your child is prepared for the day, please remember to pack:

  • A healthy snack
  • Lunch
  • A drink bottle
  • A warm coat suitable for the weather

We hope all students enjoy this exciting excursion.

Semester 1 Reports and Three-Way Conferences

Semester 1 reports will be available to families from Monday 22 June.

As families are aware, due to ongoing industrial action, reports this semester will not contain written teacher comments. To ensure families still receive detailed information regarding their child’s progress, we strongly encourage all parents and carers to attend our Three-Way Conferences.

Three-Way Conferences will be held on Thursday 25 June. Please note that this day is a Student Free Day, allowing teachers, students and families the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about learning growth, achievements and future goals.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Paige’s Puppies – Pupdates!

Paige’s puppies are now three weeks old and becoming cuter every day! They are growing quickly and developing their own little personalities.

Don’t forget to visit Paige’s page in the newsletter for the latest “Pupdates”, photos and puppy milestones. It’s always a highlight for many of our students and families.

Looking Ahead – Term 3 Diary Dates

Please add the following important dates to your calendars:

  • Tuesday 28 July – Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 House Athletics
  • Wednesday 29 July – Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 House Athletics at Meadowglen Stadium
  • Wednesday 19 August – Student Free Day

Further information regarding our athletics events will be provided closer to the dates.

Cashing In Our Values Rewards

Congratulations to all students who have been cashing in their rewards points after consistently demonstrating our school values of Perseverance, Collaboration and Respect.

It has been wonderful to see students enjoying the various rewards available. Recent highlights have included students:

  • Making school announcements
  • Becoming Assistant Principals for an hour
  • Wearing slippers to school
  • Enjoying special rewards with their classmates

A special congratulations to 2A, who celebrated their achievements with a whole-class Zooper Dooper reward last week. We are incredibly proud of the positive choices our students continue to make every day.

SWPBS Family Handbook

Families will receive a copy of our SWPBS (School-Wide Positive Behaviour Supports) Family Handbook during next week’s Three-Way Conferences.

We encourage all families to take some time to read through the handbook and learn more about the positive impact SWPBS is having across our school community. The booklet outlines our shared expectations, values and approaches to supporting positive behaviour and creating a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students.

NAIDOC Week Celebration – Term 3

Mill Park Heights Primary School will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in the first week of Term 3 with a special whole-school assembly in our gym on Thursday 16/7/2026 at 9.45am.

Students will enjoy an exciting and interactive cultural performance titled Didgeridoo, Beats & Culture.

This engaging experience will introduce students to the rich traditions of Aboriginal culture through live didgeridoo music, rhythm, movement and storytelling. Sean, the performer, will captivate students with:

  • The unique sounds of the didgeridoo
  • Traditional rhythms and animal sound effects
  • Modern beats combined with cultural music
  • Stories and learning about the history and making of the didgeridoo, as well as traditional instruments and tools

Students will be encouraged to participate by clapping, moving, and dancing along, making this a memorable and joyful celebration of culture.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful NAIDOC Week experience with our school community.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support.
