Foundation News

In Foundation, we have just started to learn 'Tricky Words'. These words are part of our InitiaLit program. Students learn to recognise these words and identify the parts they know (instead of sounding them out) because they haven't yet learned these 'tricky' sounds and spellings. Over time, these words won't be 'tricky' anymore as students learn to read and write irregular spellings.

Our families will see the first three 'Tricky Words' appear in Home Reading folders this week. Learning 'Tricky Words' will help the children to access common words in books sooner and use these in their writing.

Year One News

This week our Year Ones enjoyed a very special morning with grandparents. The children shared some songs that they have been practising as well as some of their class work. It was wonderful to see so many visitors join us and participate in some craft, reading and maths games.
