Year 5/6 Narrative Writing Celebration

Over the last two weeks, the Year 5/6 students have been actively engaged in the process of editing, and publishing their narratives. They have worked hard to develop characters, build interesting plots, and use descriptive language. There has been a strong focus on improving sentence structure, adding detail, and refining their work through feedback and multiple drafts.

On Monday, we held a writing celebration where students had the opportunity to showcase their published narratives across the other 5/6 classes. This created a positive and supportive environment where students could take pride in their work and see the wide range of creative ideas their peers had developed. Students enjoyed reading each other’s stories and were able to provide thoughtful feedback about what they liked, including strong character development, exciting storylines, and effective use of descriptive language. The celebration helped to build a sense of community across the cohort and encouraged students to see themselves as confident and capable writers.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Our students took part in National Simultaneous Storytime today, joining the Social Squad buddy class for a shared reading experience. Together, they listened to Luna Roo, at the same time as thousands of schools and libraries across Australia.

The session provided a wonderful opportunity for students to build relationships across classes, engage in meaningful discussion about the text, and enjoy a shared learning experience.
