Greater Western Region Cross Country
Congratulations to Isabelle C and Mia B on their outstanding efforts at the Greater Western Region Cross Country Championships in Warrnambool on Tuesday. Both girls represented Miners Rest with determination, resilience and a positive attitude as they tackled a challenging course featuring steep hills and occasional obstacles to jump over along the way. Competing at such a high level against some of the region’s strongest runners is a fantastic achievement in itself, and both girls should be extremely proud of their efforts. Well done, girls!
Sovereign Division Soccer
On Tuesday the 12th of May the selected year 5/6 students went to Morshead park to participate in the sovereign division soccer. We had our first match at 10:25 and we sadly lost 1-0.
After that we had a 40 minute break and we fueled up and got ready for our next match against forest street. We sadly lost again 5-0. We were starting to lose hope until we won our next match by 3-0. We had another big break. It was an hour break. We went to our next match and we didn’t think we were going to win. However we scored in the first 4 minutes. The scores were 1-0. We played solid defence for the rest of the game and ended up winning 1-0. We went home feeling proud of ourselves. We had a good day. We would like to thank the teachers that took us there and coached us all day.

We hopped on the bus at around 9:00 and soon made it to Morshead park. Our first game was against Lucas Primary and we won 4-0. We went onto win all five games for the day. My highlight was scoring goals and hanging out with my friends. I would like to thank
Lauren and Mr Brown for coming along to this amazing event and taking care of us for the day.
