💙 BLUE LIGHT DISCO 

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS & CARERS 💙

 

What is a Blue Light Disco?A Blue Light Disco is a fun, safe, and supervised event for young people in our community, proudly run by local police alongside trusted volunteers. It’s all about giving kids a place to socialise, dance, and have fun in a positive environment.

👮 Who runs the disco?Our discos are organised and supervised by local police officers and approved adult volunteers. All volunteers must have a current working with children’s check, and the event is fully supervised at all times.

 

🛡️ Safety is our priorityWe understand that safety is the most important thing for families. That’s why:

  • The venue is fully supervised by police and volunteers
  • Strict entry and exit procedures are in place
  • Children cannot leave and re-enter
  • Behaviour expectations are clearly set and enforced
  • First aid support is available
  •  

🚫 Zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviourTo ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone:

  • Bullying, violence, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated
  • Any child not following the rules may have parents contacted to leave the event

  • A chance to make friends and build confidence

     

👨‍👩‍👧 Important information for parents

  • This is a drug, alcohol, and smoke-free event
  • The disco is for children in Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6. 
  • Drop-off and pick-up times must be strictly followed
  • Parents/guardians must be contactable during the event
  • Free cordial and water are supplied to children
  • Food and lollies can be purchased at a low cost (details on our social media pages)

 

💬 Why we run Blue Light DiscosOur goal is to strengthen positive relationships between young people, police, and the community, while providing a safe and enjoyable alternative for socialising.

Saver Plus

Saver Plus is a free financial educational program funded by Department of Social Services, that support families build savings for education expenses. The program rewards you for your savings and families receive $500 to spend on Education costs.

​​Eligible families (with a Centrelink concession card or payment) can save regularly for 10 months.

 

During this time, they receive support from a savings coach and access to free online financial wellbeing classes.

 

Once participants complete the program, their savings are matched with dollar-for-dollar, up to $500. This money is used for education related costs such as uniforms, books, iPad and laptop, extracurricular activities, camps and excursions costs.

 

​​​​Saver Plus support families plan ahead, reduce financial stress, and families feel more confident about managing these costs.
