What's happening in the Performing Arts Room.....

This term, the spotlight is on Drama as students explore character, creativity and expression.....

Prep

Last week our Preps took part in a colourful and creative "Emotions" fashion show.

Students chose an emotion and designed an outfit to match, thinking about colours and clothing that best represented their chosen feeling. From bright, energetic looks to softer, more subdued styles, each outfit was a unique expression of emotion. Students then strutted down the “catwalk,” using movement and body language to bring their emotion to life. It was wonderful to see their confidence, creativity, and imagination on display.

Grades 1 and 2

Our Year 1 and 2 students have now moved into the performance phase of their “naughty chair” stories, bringing their scripts to life on camera! Each performance explores a playful scenario where students find themselves in trouble and must explain their side of the story.

Students have been focusing on using strong voices, expressive faces, and clear emotions to make their characters believable and engaging. From missing snacks to mysterious mishaps, their performances showcase creativity, confidence, and a wonderful sense of storytelling.

Grades 3 to 6

Our Grade 3 to 6 students have been busy bringing their imaginations to life by creating their own detailed character profiles. Next, these original characters will be stepping off the page and into the spotlight as students use them in a range of fun improvisation games to develop creativity, collaboration, and expressive skills. They will then be developing these ideas further into short performance pieces for their portfolios, showcasing their growing abilities in character creation, development, and expression.
