Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne to celebrate their Catholic identity, the pivotal role they play within their local community and the strength of the sector.
This year’s theme celebrates the significance of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of our local Church in Melbourne.
Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick.
Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, our mother Church, is named after the saint of Ireland, and is a reminder that Australia’s migrants have always brought their religion with them. His legacy offers us powerful lessons in love, faith and courage. We look forward to many of our students being confirmed here next week.

This year our students will be presenting the Holy Week stories in week 10.
Monday 30/3 9:15 Years 1-4 Palm Sunday and Holy Thursday
Tuesday 31/3 9:15 Year 5 Good Friday
These presnetations will take place in the Church
All welcome.
This year we will continue with Wednesday class masses. These are held in the Chapel at 9:15 am. Families are warmly invited to join classes for these Masses. Tea and and coffee is available after Mass in the Parish house. We do ask that you don't bring coffee into the Church or Chapel.

On Friday 27th March our students will be taking part in The BIG Water Walk with my school to help bring clean, safe water to vulnerable communities in need.
Every day, 292 million people around the world walk more than 30 minutes just to collect water. I’ll be walking in solidarity with them - raising awareness and funds to help provide clean, safe water for those who need it most. Every step our students take and every dollar we raise will help change lives in Africa, Asia, and thePacific.
Please send money in for your students to add to their project compassion box or donate online at https://www.projectcompassion.org.au/fundraisers/HolySpiritCommunitySchool

Thank you to those families who have already supported the parish with payment of the Levy. If your child is making a sacrament this year you will not be required to make further payment as the Parish Levy covers the cost of the sacrament.
If you have paid the levy you will be able to select your Eucharist Date immediately.
The amount of the levy is $200 per family per year and is not charged if you are already participating in the Parish Stewardship Programme. If you wish to join that programme, please contact the Parish office. This levy is consistent with other parishes and schools and is designed to make contributions to the Parish more streamlined. Congratulations to our Confirmation candidates who will be confirmed on Thursday 26th May at St Patrick’s Cathedral from your Holy Spirit Community.
To prepare ourselves for Easter there will be a Combined Parishes Reconciliation Service held on Tuesday 31st March at 7.30 pm in the Church. All are welcome to attend.
We are in desperate need for volunteers for our Good Friday Service. If we are to have our traditional ceremony on Good Friday, we needs lots of guaranteed volunteers. In particular, assistance is required for the procession of the Cross. There is a sign up sheet in the Church or you can contact the Parish House and let us know if you are able to assist. Please consider volunteering to make this Easter Special.
The Parish of St Gerard and St Anne will be holding an Easter Sunday dawn service at 6.00 am in the St Anne’s Chapel followed by a light breakfast. If you would like to attend, please contact Jill McLean on 0408 405 733 for catering purposes. The Chapel aspect offers a stunning and spiritual atmosphere as the sun rises over the nearby hills.
Next weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday. We need large palms to decorate the Church so if you have any could you deliver them to the Church on Saturday morning 28th March. A reminder that Project Compassion boxes are now due back to the Church or Parish Office.
Blessings from the Parish House.
