Senior Report

Literacy:

This fortnight in Literacy we have been studying the text - The Tale of Despereux. I am speaking on behalf of all of the students but we are loving this text, it is a captivating story of a little mouse living in a big castle and facing societal pressure. We will continue to study this text for the term. As well as our literature studies we have been focusing on our understanding of spelling, grammar and punctuation - looking at prefixes, root words and suffixes, specially the root word 'ven/vent' meaning 'come'.

Maths

Multiplicative Thinking is our focus for the first six weeks of this term. We have started looking at doubles with skip counting and increasing the students ability to recall their doubles facts. Some of the students have been experimenting with multiplying multiple numbers and including brackets into their equations. It is great to see students challenging their own learning.

I have printed an A4 copy of the 1 through to 12 multiplicative facts and sent home in their readers. If they could be practising these, that would be amazing, thank you!

ART

We are exploring the concept of 'Self' this term and students have been working through activities to discover what makes them unique. We have created a display of all the students in our school and displayed it on the back of the Art Room door for everyone to see and feel a sense of belonging.
