Teaching and Learning

NAPLAN
This year NAPLAN testing is taking place from March 12-17. All Year 7 and 9 students will participate in NAPLAN testing.
As has been the case in previous years, NAPLAN tests will be completed online. This will require all students to have a fully charged laptop and a set of earphones. Where possible earphones with a cord are preferable to Airpods.
St Joseph’s values the data collected during NAPLAN testing. Along with other data, it is used to inform decisions at a school, subject and class level. We are also able to view each individual student's test results, allowing us to ensure we are meeting students at their point of need.
There is a NAPLAN public demonstration site allowing students and parents to become familiar with the test format. We encourage you to look through this with your child. This website can be found here: https://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/public-demonstration-site
If you have a child with a disability or learning needs, the Learning Enhancement Team will determine whether modifications, adjustments or exemptions apply.
The NAPLAN testing dates are below:
Day | Period 1 | Period 2 |
Wednesday 12 March | Year 7 Writing | Year 9 Writing |
Thursday 13 March | Year 7 Reading | Year 9 Reading |
Friday 14 March | Year 7 Conventions of Language | Year 9 Conventions of Language |
Monday 17 March | Year 7 Numeracy | Year 9 Numeracy |
If your child is absent on one of these days, there will be catch up tests running on Monday 17, Wednesday 19 and Friday 21 March.
