Each sport will have two tryouts and two training sessions before the first round of competition. Students who wish to participate simply need to click on the sport they are interested in and fill out the form.

School sport is a privilege afforded to those with good behaviour. Coaches will email all students who have filled out the form when tryouts are to begin.

For details on dress codes, behaviour expectations, and event policies, please refer to the Sport section on Compass. If students need help finding and filling out forms they are encouraged to speak with their LM.

Let’s make 2025 a fantastic year for sport at St Joe's!

Whole School House Swimming Carnival

Our Whole School House Swimming Carnival will take place from 9am - 3pm on Thursday 20 February. Year 10 & 11 students will remain at school and have normal classes for the day unless they are participating in an event.

Participation & Activities

All students are expected to attend and take part to support their House and school community. Community events such as these are a terrific way to develop community spirit, social cohesion skills, resilience and a feeling of belonging to our school. There will be lawn games on the grassed area for students to participate in when they are not swimming.

What to wear:

Students are encouraged to dress up for the event in their House colours – please change at the pool.

Registering for Events:

Swimming Sports sign ups are now live. Students are required to sign up to the individual events of their choice on pickmyevents.com and use the login which will be emailed out to them soon.  Please email Mr Cantwell (jcantwell@sje.vic.edu.au) if you have any issues.

All relays will be organised by House Captains and House Leaders.

Transport & Dismissal:

Buses will take students to and from the pool. Students can be dismissed from the pool at the end of the event provided they have approval from a parent or guardian via the question on the Compass event by Tuesday 18 February.

Food & Drinks

A BBQ will be available with sausages for $3 (eftpos available). A coffee van will also be available with limited snacks and drinks, but we encourage students to bring enough food and water for the day.

Absences & Parents

If a student is sick, please provide a medical certificate via Compass. If this doesn't occur selection in further school sport events may be withdrawn. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend and there will be a designated seating area. Students will have access to the timetable prior to the event for parents to see race times.

Rules & Safety:

  • Students must stay inside the pool's fence. If they need to leave early, they must have an approved leave pass on Compass and inform their House Leader prior to the event, signing out will be the same as at school.
  • Hats must be worn – there will be some shade available. The Pool has banned face paint, streamers, coloured hairspray, and coloured zinc.
  • No students on the pool deck (concourse) – waiting areas will be on the lawn, and marshalling will be at the deep end. No aqua play is allowed.
  • Change rooms are available, but mobile phones are not allowed at the event.
  • Questions? Contact the school through your child’s Learning Mentor or email Justin Cantwell directly.

We look forward to a fun and exciting day!!!

2024/5 NSW Jack Newton Junior State Pennant Championship

A team of seven junior players from Rich River Golf Club (RRGC) represented the Western Riverina and District Golf Association (WRDGA) in the Jack Newton Junior State Pennant Championships.

The team consited of five students from St Joseph's College - Archer Golding, Kobe Atkinson, Hunter Reid, Eden Thomson and Solomon Welch.

Their first match as a team was at Jerilderie last year in August 2024 when they played and defeated Thurgoona from the Murray region with 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss.

In October the team competed at Gundagai against the highly fancied 2023 State Champions, the Catalina Club of Bateman’s Bay. After finishing the day at 3 games all, it was up to the lowest handicapper from both teams to play the sudden death round.

In November the team played a junior team from the Yass Golf Club at Thurgoona, narrowly winning the day by 4 matches to 2.

The team then progressed to the State Finals at Newcastle on January 20 and 21, where they were narrowly beaten. While unsuccessful, the team played impressive golf and were excellent ambassadors for both the RRGC and the WRGDA.
