Wellbeing

Welcome back students and families to the 2025 school year and in particular, I would like to offer a very warm welcome to our students and families beginning their journey with us. Schools really do come alive once the students return and it has been great to hear the buzz at both Kildare and Brigidine campuses this week.
LM/Parent Evening
For our parents and guardians, we are offering a great opportunity for us to meet and connect together in person at the LM Evening next Thursday 13 February. Students have been allocated to a Learning Mentor Group within their House Group. The Learning Mentor Teacher is your first point of contact for any questions, concerns or celebrations you have to share about your student. We strongly encourage you to book a time to meet with your child's/children's LM on this evening, where our staff will be available to share helpful and important information for you about the year ahead, create connections and demonstrate our care for our students.
The Learning Mentor evening will be located at Kildare (Years 7 - 9) and Brigidine (Years 10 - 12) campuses. Families can access the booking system via Compass (open Thursday 6 February).
If you need assistance with making bookings for students across both campuses please contact student services.
The Resilience Project
This week during the Learning Mentor lesson, students have been introduced to our whole school wellbeing program, The Resilience Project. The program is centred on The Resilience Project’s core principals of - Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy (GEM). Each lesson contains fun and engaging student journal activities.
The Resilience Project works with parents and carers in the school community, not only because wellbeing is relevant to them too, but because it helps to build the school-home connection. There is significant evidence that building the school–home connection is crucial to improving educational achievement and student wellbeing outcomes. There is a correlation between parent involvement and a variety of wellbeing metrics including:
- school attendance,
- social skills and behaviours, and
- further education.
Thank you to families who have purchased the $10 student journal via compass. Families can process payment via Compass or in person at Student Services.

Classroom Behaviour Management
Our College has started the year strong with high expectations for all students. Our hope is to have classrooms of learning, where teachers can teach and students can learn. Students have learnt how to enter and exit the classroom and we look forward to continuing routines that allow calm learning environments for our students and staff.
School Uniform
Students have been wearing their summer uniform with pride. We remind families that the school hat is a compulsory item in Terms 1 and 4. Students are required to wear their school hat at all times when outside.

Safe Travel to School
Many of our families choose a variety of ways for student transportation to and from school. A gentle reminder regarding electric powered scooters (e-scooters).
Use of e-scooters is legalised in Victoria.
You can legally ride an e-scooter in Victoria if you:
- ride on:
- shared-use paths (not on footpaths), or
- roads that have a speed limit up to 60km/h
- are at least 16 years old
- wear a helmet
- do not travel more than 20km/h
- do not use your mobile phone
- do not carry a passenger (dinking).
