This term in English, Stage 2 students are exploring informative texts through the engaging topic of reptiles. Our big idea is that living things have features that help them survive, and we can explain these clearly using informative texts. Students explore how animals are suited to their environments through their physical features, building their understanding of how living things adapt to survive.

Students are developing key skills such as identifying the features and structure of informative texts, brainstorming, organising ideas, and deconstructing examples to understand how they work. Students will create their own informative text about their chosen animal using clear, factual language. They will also design an informative poster about a chosen reptile to share their knowledge.

To further enrich their learning, students will attend an excursion to Sydney Zoo on Monday, 11th May, where they can observe reptiles up close and consolidate their understanding in a real-world context.
