SSB (School Saving Bonus)
School Saving Bonus is a one-off support of $400 for families of Victorian government school students to help with 2025 school costs.
To use your SSB for a school activity (i.e. camp and excursions):
- go to SSB Parent Portal and allocate an amount to be used for school activities. This may take up to 48 hours to process.
- then tick the CSEF/Credit box when paying for an event through your Compass Parent Portal. If you do not have that option, please contact accounts@macleod.vic.edu.au for assistance.
The School Saving Bonus cannot be used for school fees or resources or music academy fees.
Once you allocate your bonus to an in-store or online purchase or to school activities, it cannot be reversed.
However, if you have unspent funds or don’t use the funds you allocated to purchases, these funds will automatically be available on your child’s school account as an activities credit on 01 July 2025.

SSBI (School Student Broadband Initiative)
The School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) has been extended …
The School Student Broadband Initiative offers eligible families with school-aged students free NBN broadband internet at home. The initiative was due to end on 31 December 2025 but has been extended.
The initiative is capped at 30,000 services connected. Once this number is reached, no further applications to participate in the initiative will be accepted.
Households already connected through the initiative, or with a voucher to do so:
Families and carers currently connected to the NBN network through the initiative will have their connection automatically extended with their participating internet provider until Friday 30 June 2028.
Eligible families and carers who already have a voucher to take part in the initiative should activate their free service with a participating internet provider as soon as possible. This voucher will become invalid once the cap is reached.
For all other households:
Please encourage families and carers who haven’t been assessed and may be eligible for the initiative to contact the NBN’s National Referral Centre for an assessment. If they are eligible, they will be sent a voucher to access free home internet until Friday 30 June 2028. However, this voucher must be activated before the 30,000 cap is reached.
