Certificate III in Music Students Hit the Studio at Soundlab

Our Certificate III in Music students recently had the exciting opportunity to take part in a professional recording studio experience at Soundlab Youth Space, made possible through a City of Gosnells grant.

The excursion gave students valuable insight into the music industry and allowed them to experience first-hand what it is like to record in a real studio environment. Students worked alongside industry professionals, learning about the recording process, studio equipment, sound engineering, and the teamwork required to bring a musical project to life.

This hands-on experience helped students develop their confidence, creativity, and understanding of pathways within the music industry. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to connect their classroom learning with real-world industry practice.

We are grateful to Soundlab for hosting our students and to the City of Gosnells for supporting this valuable learning experience.

Year 9 Try-A-Trade

Some of our Year 9 students recently took part in a three-day hands-on trade experience at Skill Hire on June 9, 10 and 11 focusing on bricklaying and carpentry.

Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to develop practical skills in a real trade training environment. They learned the basics of working safely, using tools and equipment, measuring accurately, and completing hands-on tasks in both bricklaying and carpentry.

The experience gave students valuable insight into the construction industry and helped them better understand the skills, teamwork and attention to detail required in trade-based careers. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore future pathways while building confidence through practical learning.

VETDSS Networking Forum

I recently had the pleasure of attending the VETDSS Networking Forum at the SMTAFE Bentley Pines Restaurant, where it was fantastic to see our Year 12 Certificate II in Hospitality students putting their skills into action.

Our students did an outstanding job serving food and drinks throughout the event, demonstrating professionalism, confidence and excellent customer service. It was a great opportunity for them to showcase the skills they have been developing through their course in a real event setting.

Experiences like these are an important part of vocational education, allowing students to connect classroom learning with practical industry experience. I am very proud of the way our students represented the school and contributed to the success of the forum.
