Deputy Principal's Message

Matt Galea

(Acting Deputy Principal: Wellbeing & Organisation)

Hello families of Mother Teresa,

We are nearly halfway through the term already with plenty occurring in the PBL space. Please find some updates below.

PBL Behaviour Flowchart

Last week, the staff, students and community were shared with the new Behaviour Flowchart. This flowchart outlines the school's approach to managing behaviour within the school. We understand that each behaviour is different and there is context behind all behaviours, but having a process in place that all understand and follow creates a safer and calmer environment for our students.

PBL Shop

In the last couple of weeks our PBL leaders have spoken and presented to all classes to find out what new rewards we could have in our PBL shop. The leaders came back with many suggestions from students across the school to help us develop a way to acknowledge students' behaviour, but also giving them voice in what prizes they would like. We have managed to create two different systems of acknowledgement for our students as we know what our Prep to Year 2 students want as a reward will differ from the Year 3 to Year 6 students. This new rewards will come into effect next week.

PBL Focus: Week 5 and 6

For the next two weeks, students will focus their PBL learning around being Resilient by being able to learn from their mistakes and having another go.

This is an important part of their journey as throughout life mistakes will be made. This could be with learning, or with friends or family. When we make a mistake this becomes a learning opportunity for us all and we can use that newly gained knowledge to have another go and not make the same mistake again.

Warm regards,

Matt
