Congratulations to Joel Byatt who was Awarded a Blacktown Council Sports Person of the Year Finalist award. To be selected as 1 of the 5 male finalists from 43 overall nominations was a huge honour in a field of supremely talented nominees.

Earlier in the year Joel also raced at the AIS in Canberra in a World level meet with Olympians and the best Open aged walkers in the country. The race was full of very talented walkers with international level judges. He did an amazing job smashing 1:14 off his PB to clock the 10,000m Walk in 46:24 in hot conditions, placing 21st.

He also competed at the NSW State Junior Championships 5000m Under 20s Race Walk where he finished 1st in 22:13 with a 9sec PB.
