Foundation Clay Creations 🏺

Our Foundation artists have been getting their hands messy as they learn the basic techniques of working with clay! Students have been developing their fine motor skills and learning how to manipulate clay by rolling smooth balls, creating long sausages while trying to maintain an even thickness, and using their thumbs and fingers to form simple pinch pots.

These foundational skills are helping students understand how clay can be shaped, joined and transformed into different forms. In our next session, students will put their new skills into practice as they begin a creative clay project. Their creations will be carefully dried and fired in the kiln before students have the opportunity to paint and bring their artwork to life.

We can't wait to see what our Foundation artists create! 🎨

Performing Arts

Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2

🎶 Ukulele Fun in Performing Arts! 🎶

Our Performing Arts students have been busy learning the basics of playing the ukulele! 🎵

Foundation students are becoming familiar with their instruments by learning to name the different parts of the ukulele, including the head, neck, body, back, frets, strings and tuning keys. They are also learning how to hold the ukulele correctly and are beginning to play their first chord — C major!

Year 1 and 2 students are building on these skills by revisiting the parts of the ukulele, correct playing position and the C chord. They are also beginning to develop their music reading skills, learning to recognise and read the notes used to play the C chord and follow musical notation in 4/4 time.

Through these activities, students are developing their musical vocabulary, coordination, listening skills, rhythm and confidence as young musicians. Most importantly, they are learning to play together, follow musical instructions and enjoy making music! 🎶🎸
