Konnichiwa, Monty Community!

Foundation students practised writing their names in Japanese on small whiteboards. They did an amazing job and were very impressive with their Japanese writing!

We also counted how many songs we know in Japanese and discovered that they can confidently sing six songs, packed with lots of Japanese vocabulary! It is wonderful to see how much Japanese they have already learned through singing and having fun. Well done, Foundation! 

Year 1 & 2 students have been learning the Japanese words for nine stationery items, including scissors, pencils and erasers. They have shown an amazing memory for remembering all these new words!

Students have now started to focus on recognising the words written in Hiragana. We discovered that Japanese children learn all 46 Hiragana characters when they start Year 1 at school!

Students enjoyed playing the 'Roll & Cover' game, and through the game, they began recognising individual Hiragana words and matching them to pictures of stationery items. Amazing effort, Years 1 & 2!
