A message from Mr Steed

Term 3 2026 concludes - Thank you for your unstinting support

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our students for their unwavering dedication and hard work during what has been an exceptionally busy and demanding term at Hurstville Public School. Throughout the term, our students have demonstrated remarkable character and resilience, showing great adaptability and enthusiasm as they participated in the diverse range of events and activities that were thoughtfully scheduled. Their commitment and positive attitude have truly been inspiring.

Equally, I want to express deep appreciation for the incredible staff at Hurstville Public School. Their relentless energy, passion, and determination throughout Term 3 were pivotal in making our 150th anniversary celebrations an outstanding success in every possible way. The staff’s commitment behind the scenes and on the day itself ensured that this milestone event was memorable for all involved.

I would also like to sincerely thank the Hurstville Parents & Citizens Association (P&C), with special recognition to the P&C Executive team. Their dedication in coordinating numerous initiatives, coordinating various stalls, and rallying support from the wider community was instrumental in the smooth running of the anniversary celebrations. Their efforts effectively brought together a diverse group of community members, creating a truly collaborative and warm atmosphere for the day.

On the day of the 150th anniversary, we were fortunate to have 150 volunteers from across the local community generously donating their time to help support the event. With an estimated attendance of around 8,000 people throughout the day, the involvement of every single volunteer was vital to the event’s success. I extend my deepest gratitude to all volunteers for their diligence, enthusiasm, and commitment.

A special and sincere thank you goes to Siu Kim Budiman, a former parent and former P&C President, whose exceptional coordination of the 150th Anniversary newsletter was truly outstanding. The newsletter, featuring captivating Alumni profiles and rich stories, became a highlight of the celebratory journey. Siu Kim’s contributions extended beyond the newsletter as she played numerous vital roles in the planning and execution of the entire anniversary event.

It is clear that so many individuals across our community contributed generously to ensure that our 150th Anniversary will be fondly remembered by all who attended. This milestone is a unique and special moment for Hurstville Public School, and it prompts us to take a pause to recognise just how remarkable our school community is. The spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to supporting our students in their educational journey is truly inspiring.

As the Term 3 school holidays approach, I wish everyone a safe, restful, and joyful break. I encourage you all to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we have experienced together so far. As you do, I invite you to envision the promising future that lies ahead for our remarkable school and its amazing students. Together, we will continue to build on this strong foundation and create an even brighter path forward.

Our students return for Term 4 on Tuesday 13 October 2026

REMINDER - Calling all community partners and local businesses - Support our PSSA Basketball Teams with New Jerseys!

We’re excited to share that our PSSA basketball teams are ready to represent our school in upcoming games against 14 other local schools! These matches help our students build teamwork, leadership, and school pride.

Right now, our teams do not have official jerseys, and we’d love to provide them with comfortable, professional uniforms to wear during competitions. New jerseys will boost their confidence and make them feel proud to represent Hurstville Pubic School.

We are looking for community partners or local businesses to help by donating funds to cover the cost of 40 jerseys in various sizes.

In appreciation of your generous donation, your organisation’s logo will be proudly displayed on the jerseys, giving you great visibility and acknowledgement at every game and across our local community.

This is a wonderful chance to support our young athletes and be part of a positive community initiative. Please see the image below of the proposed design of the basketball jerseys.

If you or someone you know might be interested in helping, please get in touch with our Hurstville PS PSSA Coordinator, Mrs. Vicki Koinis via the school email

Thank you for supporting our students and helping them shine on the court!
