SESSA Primary Athletics Championships
A group of talented students recently competed at the SESSA Primary Athletics Championships, an annual event that brings together young athletes from across the region to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. Participating in a range of track and field disciplines, these students represented their school with pride and determination.
Ethan demonstrated his speed and agility by securing 3rd place in the highly competitive 10-year-old 100m sprint. Daniel also showcased his sprinting ability, coming 3rd in the 13-year-old 100m event.
In the field events, Zoe excelled in the junior high jump, earning 2nd place and showing impressive technique and consistent performance. Haris displayed strength and focus in the senior high jump, achieving 3rd place against tough competition.
Ezra demonstrated versatility as an athlete, placing 3rd in the 11-year-old high jump with great commitment and skill, and earning 2nd place in the long jump, highlighting his ability to compete successfully in multiple events.
Thanks to their outstanding achievements, these students have qualified for the PSSA NSW Primary Athletics Carnival, which will be held on October 21-22. This prestigious competition will offer them the opportunity to compete against the state's best athletes, further developing their abilities and teamwork. The school community congratulates them on their success so far and wishes them the best of luck at the upcoming event.
Interschool Chess Tournament Finals
Our Hurstville Public School Chess team has once again made us proud of their achievements during the state final against tough opponents.
They have had incredible success coming first in both the local heats and in the semi-finals. Kai Z (6L), Andrew L (6L), Eric C (6S), Jamie L (6L) and Chase L (5C) displayed resilience, determination and strategy as they competed against 21 private and public schools across the state like Newcastle, Wollongong and Dubbo. They all won their last game in a strong finish to end up 6th on the leader board. It is truly a fantastic achievement for these students individually and as a team representing our school.
I also wanted to thank the parents who took the time to get their sons to all tournaments and I am sure they are proud of their great achievements.
