Year 7 Economics

Exploring Real-World Demand and Pricing
On Wednesday, 18 February, our Year 7 students took part in an engaging Economics incursion with Tina Cross, Canteen Manager at Mazenod College.
Tina shared valuable real-world insights into how demand changes over time, explaining how student preferences, sales data and rising supplier costs influence menu choices and pricing. A standout example was garlic bread, which was removed from the menu after a small price increase led to a noticeable drop in demand. Students are now looking forward to designing a survey to explore current spending habits and menu preferences within our school community.
Thank you, Tina, for generously sharing your time and expertise with our boys.
