HISTORY FUN: FROM 'MILLIONAIRE HAT SEAT' TO RASPUTIN GROOVES! || Today our Year 12 History class spiced up revision with a round of "Millionaire Hat Seat" focusing on pre-revolutionary Russia! Later, our History Club grooved to Ra Ra Rasputin - truly making history fun!

MOLECULAR MASTERY || Our Year 11 Chemistry students took their baking skills to the next level yesterday! Chemistry students turned into master chefs as they converted ingredient quantities from 'mol' to grams for their cookies. Science + baking = delicious results!

AFL DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONS || Congratulations to our Year 8 Boys AFL team for claiming the Division Championship title today! Next stop: Regionals!

YEAR 8 NETBALL FINALS || Well done to our Year 8 Girls Netball team who played their hearts out on Friday. They secured a victory against Sandringham but narrowly missed the top spot, finishing an impressive 2nd overall in the division after a hard-fought final against Parkdale.

SAFE PARTYING || Our Year 10 & 11 students had the opportunity to learn from one of Australia's leading voices on safe partying, Sonya Karras. Renowned for her extensive experience in Melbourne's hospitality scene, she shared invaluable insights and stories through her 'Whole New World' program. Tonight, parents from all year levels also have the chance to join an informative online session – see Compass for details. Thanks to Sonya for keeping us informed, educated, and entertained! YEAR 9 CAMPS/URBAN EXPEDITIONS WEEK || Our Year 9 students are embarking on the ultimate choose-your-own adventure this week! From hiking the Great Ocean Road to exploring Far North Queensland's Reef-to-Rainforest and delving into Melbourne's urban wonders—there's something for everyone! These unforgettable experiences empower our students to discover their passions, embrace challenges and create lifelong memories.

BASKETBALL STATE FINALS || Our boys gave it their all in the U20 Division 2 State Finals! Despite injuries and a short bench, they represented the college with pride, playing above their age. They finished 4th in the state, narrowly losing to the eventual champions by 5 points. We're immensely proud of their perseverance and sportsmanship throughout this journey. Well done, boys!

YEAR 7 SOCCER & AFL DIVISION FINALS || Congratulations to our Year 7 teams on their incredible performances in the division finals! Our Boys Soccer team clinched victory with a stunning 1-0 win over McKinnon, thanks to Piotr M's amazing strike, fuelled by great team work and captain Henry K's leadership. Next stop: Regionals! Meanwhile, our Boys AFL team put up a valiant effort, securing a thrilling win against Sandringham and battling hard in the final against McKinnon. Well done to all the players, including standout performers Kobi H, Max E and Fynn B. Coming 2nd in their first secondary school football season is a fantastic achievement!

EXPLORING ORGANIC CHEMISTRY || Our Year 12 Chemistry students had an insightful day at the Monash Organic Spectroscopy Symposium (MOSS) today! They engaged with cutting-edge instruments used in organic compound analysis, directly tying into the focus of Outcome 2 in Unit 4 Chemistry.

WICKED || Our VCE Theatre Studies students attended the spellbinding performance of "Wicked" at the Regent Theatre today! This immersive experience perfectly aligns with Outcome 3, Unit 3 for Theatre Studies, enhancing their skills in analysing and evaluating theatre. What a captivating journey into the world of performing arts!

A huge shout-out to all the businesses for their invaluable support and mentorship in shaping our students' future careers.

PUSH-UP CHALLENGE 2024 || Our team has completed over 66,200 push-ups and raised over $1,400 for Headspace, supporting mental health in young people. Special shoutout to Seb M and Nathan W of Year 12 for raising $650 and $473 respectively!

ART SHOW SUCCESS || Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Art Show – we had a full house! The evening was a fantastic display of creativity! It was wonderful to partner with our friends at Beaumaris Primary School, Black Rock Primary School, Beaumaris North Primary School and the Better Health Network and celebrate art together.

PSYCHOLOGY CHALLENGE || The end-of-term challenge for our Year 11 Psychology students was to create “Inside Out: in my own mind edition”. Students had to design and create their own new emotion and discuss their 5 core memories that have shaped their 5 personality islands. As an extra challenge, they had to come up with some play on words that could be used in their “movie”. These included “brain fart”, “track of time”, “lips are sealed”, “goosebumps”, “memory lane” and many more! 🧠

WHOLE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY || Today we kicked off Term 3 with a fantastic assembly celebrating some of last term's events and achievements, including the Year 10 & 11 Japanese Exchange, Year 9 Camps/Urban Expeditions and Year 10 Work Experience. We enjoyed a great performance from the VCE Music Class, congratulated Chloe C and Haeley H on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and heard about the important work of the student Climate Action Group. We also heard about some exciting upcoming events like the Beauy Bake-off, Pyjama Day, Footy Colours Day, Connor’s Run and some inspiring words from Ms Chaves (Principal). Here's to another term of growth, learning and BSC community spirit!

ALUMNI SUCCESS || A HUGE congratulations to Bjorn S, our 2023 alumnus, for landing a full-time position as a Technology Support Engineer at NOVA FM! This incredible achievement is no surprise to those who enjoyed his performances on Southern FM over the years. Bjorn’s dream of working at NOVA and in this industry has come true much earlier than he ever imagined! Well done, Bjorn, we are so proud of you!

SUPREME COURT OF VICTORIA || Today was an enlightening day for our VCE Legal Studies students! They had the incredible opportunity to meet with judicial officers and magistrates, explore courtrooms and witness courtroom proceedings firsthand at the Supreme Court of Victoria. They met Justice James Elliott, the second longest-tenured justice for the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria and witnessed a bail application and a murder trial.

YEAR 8 WELLBEING DAY || Today, our Year 8 students engaged in enriching activities, including insightful presentations from Stride Education on fostering positive friendships and conflict resolution, an Amazing Race by Urban Quest that tested their teamwork, logic and problem-solving skills, and a silent disco along with a ‘Sketch & Snack’ session designed to boost attention and awareness!

BEAUY BAKE OFF || A BIG thank you to our amazing students who whipped up delicious creations for our annual bake off.  With categories of wedding cake, largest cookie, bake a teacher and most creative cupcake, the competition was fierce and fun. We proudly raised $431 for Challenge, and we appreciate everyone who brought along a gold coin to purchase the yummy goods! Stay tuned for the winners, who will be announced during GOAL next week!

THE BSC ESCAPE ROOM || Shout-out to our Year 7 & 8 High Abilities Wider Knowledge (HAWK) Program students for organising an awesome Escape Room experience for Beaumaris Primary School's Grade 4 – 6 high ability students at the end of last term. Your creativity and leadership were on full display, and it was a fantastic showcase of teamwork and problem-solving skills from our BPS friends.
