Year 7 News

On behalf of the Year 7 team at Horsham College, we hope all families enjoyed the break and have returned energised for a busy Term 3.
Semester 2 means new beginnings. Students are encouraged to review their reports and reflect on what they can improve or continue doing well. Interim reports will be here before we know it, so now is a great time to establish positive habits and consistently demonstrate the school’s values.
Subject Selection Day
Last week, students received a subject selection booklet and a letter outlining how the day will run. Please ensure you read the instructions, checklist, and the relevant Year 8 sections of the booklet before Subject Selection Day.
Students are also required to have completed their Career Action Plans prior to subject selection day. The Year 7 team are currently supporting any students with incomplete plans to finalise them during Form Group in the coming week.
Subject Selection Day will take place on Wednesday 29th July. Please note classes are cancelled on this day. Parents and students are asked to make an appointment to come to school and select subjects for Year 8 in 2027.
Immunisations
Year 7 immunisations will take place at Horsham College on Tuesday 4th August. Families should have received an email from the Horsham Rural City Council with information regarding immunisations for your child and a link to the Vitavo portal for parents and guardians to provide consent. Please check your Spam or Junk folders and contact the Year 7 team via DM or phone if you have not received this email.
Wellbeing and the Year 7 team will be on hand to support those who find immunisations overwhelming on the day. However, if your child has a history of anxiety around immunisations at school you are welcome to contact the Year Level Coordinators via SEQTA or phone call to the year 7 office to discuss supports and alternatives.
Uniform
With the colder weather setting in, we remind parents/guardians that students out of uniform must bring a signed note to school. These students will be issued a blue slip by a Year Level Coordinator.
Mobile Phones
Another reminder that mobile phones are expected to be always kept in student’s lockers throughout the day. Any student caught with their phone will be issued with an after-school detention.
