We certainly have had another amazing week at the Scotsburn campus. With lots happening across both classes, students have been doing a terrific job with maintaining strong classroom routines and behaviours. During the last two weeks, students have been completing some important midyear assessments, and we have loved to see the positivity and effort shown from everyone.
A reminder that this Friday is a curriculum day for all students, meaning that there is a 4-day weekend on the way.
Good luck to our Grade 4s who will be heading off with Mr Morgan to the Grade 4 Anglesea camp on Tuesday. It will be lots of fun!
Have a wonderful week ahead everyone!
Grade 5/6 VSSEC Excursion Tomorrow - Wednesday June 3
Tomorrow our Grade 5s and 6s will be joining 5/6BB and 5/6BW on the VSSEC excursion in Melbourne. This STEM-themed excursion takes students on a scenario-based journey that engages the students in a wide range of science activities, uses computer and communications technology and strongly encourages collaborative learning and teamwork. This excursion is always a highlight of the year.
Mr Morgan will be staying back at Scotsburn to work with the Grade 3/4 SC2 students on this day. Our 5/6s will join Mrs B and Mr White for the day.
A big reminder that students need to be at the Buninyong campus by 7:30am, and will return back to Buninyong by 4:30pm. A compass message will be sent out to parents if the bus arrival time in the afternoon is adjusted.
What a fun day ahead!
Scotsburn Assembly - this Thursday 4th June
Our next Scotsburn assembly is this Thursday in the shed at 3pm, heading into the extra long weekend for students and families. We look forward to seeing you there!
Grade 4 Anglesea Camp - Tuesday 9th June - Wednesday 10th June
Next Tuesday our Grade 4s head off with Mr Morgan to the Anglesea overnight camp. This will be an amazing experience for our Grade 4s, with the trip jam-packed full of fun and team building activities.
A reminder that Grade 4 students need to be at the Buninyong campus next Tuesday 9th June by 8:30am, for a 9am departure. Students will need to have morning tea and lunch for Tuesday packed from home in a small back pack to take on the bus.
Students will be expected to return on Wednesday 10th June between 3pm - 3:30pm. A Compass message will be sent to families with a more accurate arrival time on Wednesday. If Grade 4 families need another Parent Handbook, please contact Mr Morgan by Thursday this week.
Yard Play
The creative play in the yard continues to shine at Scotsburn, with this week students playing shops and talent shows in the forest. The teachers on yard duty have been treated to some fantastic shows and bush food prepared by the “chefs”!
In the classroom
In SC1, Sounds Write continues to be an important part of our daily learning. Through engaging activities, students develop their understanding of letter-sound relationships, improve their spelling skills and build confidence in reading and writing. Regular practice helps strengthen phonics knowledge and supports literacy development across all learning areas.
In SC2, students have been having a great time developing their fractions board games in Maths. This has been a fantastic way for students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of working with fractions, in a fun and creative way. Well done everyone!
Swimming and Water Safety Program
Our 2026 swimming and water safety program commences late next term. Lessons take place at the Federation University pool by qualified instructors and run for 45 minutes over a 5-day period.
More detailed information will be sent home via Compass soon for parent/carer consent, along with payment details. The approximate cost of this year’s program is $66 per child.
In the meantime, please see the dates for Scotsburn classes below:
Year Level | Program Dates |
Scotsburn Campus (all year levels) | 31 Aug-4 Sept |
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
