Kitchen

The kitchen has been very busy this term, with lots of delicious cooking happening across all year levels!

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day Morning Tea, where Grade 6 students made delicious slices for our special guests. It was lovely to see the students proudly sharing what they had made.

Our Extended Cooking Program has been going really well. The Grade 6 students have been preparing meals, setting tables and inviting teachers to join them in the kitchen for lunch. It has been a fantastic experience building cooking, teamwork and hospitality skills.

The Grade 5  students have been working with pastry and creating some amazing dishes, including curry puffs, Portuguese tarts, dumplings and roast vegetable pasties – they have been incredible!

What students have been cooking this term:

Prep: Pizza cups 🍕

Grade 1: Hedgehog slice, shortbread, and pizza pinwheels

Grade 2: Pear muffins and pizza

Grade 3: White chocolate raspberry muffins

Grade 4: White chocolate raspberry muffins, with students measuring all of their own ingredients independently

Grade 5: Spring rolls and spaghetti bolognese

Grade 6: Jambalaya

Kitchen Garden Fun 🌿

Students have loved spending time in the kitchen garden, picking fresh herbs to use in their cooking. They carefully picked herbs straight from the garden to add to our delicious Cheesy Herb Muffins. It has been a wonderful way for students to learn where food comes from and how fresh ingredients can make cooking even more delicious!

The garden is growing beautifully, with lots of herbs and green vegetables ready for us to use in our kitchen sessions.

It has been fantastic seeing students build confidence in the kitchen, learn new cooking skills and enjoy trying new foods. We are looking forward to another exciting term of cooking!
