Curriculum Day at BPS - 9th June
Curriculum Days provide valuable opportunities for our staff to come together and focus on professional learning, curriculum planning, and continuous school improvement. These pupil-free days allow teachers and education support staff to strengthen their knowledge, collaborate with colleagues, and develop practices that support student learning, wellbeing, and safety.
Our recent Curriculum Day focused on several key areas, including the implementation of our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, ensuring a consistent approach to promoting positive behaviours and creating a safe, respectful learning environment for all students. Staff also participated in First Aid training to maintain their skills and preparedness in responding to student health and safety needs.
In addition, staff engaged in professional learning around data tracking tools, enabling us to monitor student progress more effectively, identify learning needs, and tailor teaching programs to support every student's growth and achievement.
By investing time in professional learning and collaboration, our staff continue to build their capacity to provide high-quality learning experiences and support the success and wellbeing of all students. We thank our families for their ongoing support of these important opportunities.
Term 2 Planning Day
On Wednesday, our classroom teachers participated in a dedicated planning day focused on preparing for a successful Term 3. This valuable time allowed teaching teams to work collaboratively, review student achievement data, and engage in detailed planning to ensure learning programs are tailored to meet the needs of all students.
While teachers were engaged in this important work, students enjoyed a fun and engaging day with our specialist teachers. A range of exciting learning activities were planned, providing students with opportunities to learn, create, and participate in specialist programs throughout the day.
Student Reports & Parent/Teacher Interviews
Thank you to the members of the community that made the time to meet with their child's teacher. The turnout was fantastic and the hum of conversation in the BER was wonderful to witness. Parent - Teacher interviews are a fantastic time to celebrate your child's progress and to make goals for the second half of the year.
We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual.
The reports will be distributed on Tuesday, 23rd June.
The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments may not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.

Goodbye from Mrs Atkinson
I would like to sincerely thank the teachers, students, families, and wider Bittern Primary School community for the wonderful experience I have had during my time at the school.
Everyone has been so welcoming, supportive, and kind, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the amazing students who make this school such a special place.
As many of you know, Sally will return to lead this wonderful school at the beginning of Term 3. I know she is looking forward to reconnecting with the school community and continuing the great work taking place at Bittern Primary School.
Thank you again for your warmth and support. I wish you all the very best for the future.
Kind regards,
Lou Atkinson
