Year 3/4A

Year 3/4 Classroom Update
It has been another busy and rewarding few weeks in Year 3/4, with students demonstrating enthusiasm, creativity and a genuine commitment to their learning across a variety of curriculum areas.
Ancient Greece
Our class is now concluding its unit of work on Ancient Greece, which has provided students with a wonderful opportunity to develop both their research and writing skills while exploring one of history's most fascinating civilisations. Throughout the unit, students have researched a range of topics and written detailed information reports, applying their understanding of factual text structures, paragraph organisation and subject-specific vocabulary. To celebrate the completion of this learning, students have also participated in a number of engaging art activities inspired by Ancient Greek culture. One particular highlight was creating their own miniature amphoras from clay before painting them using either the traditional black-figure or orange-figure pottery techniques, producing some truly impressive and creative pieces of artwork.
Cultural Inclusion Day
On Thursday, 28 May, our Year 4 students attended an excursion to Westernport Secondary College to participate in a special day celebrating Indigenous culture and inclusion. The students enjoyed a range of meaningful cultural experiences, including a traditional smoking ceremony, performances featuring the didgeridoo, and the opportunity to design and create their own tote bags. The excursion provided valuable opportunities for students to deepen their appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures while celebrating diversity, respect and community.
Winter Lightning Premiership
Our Year 3 and 4 students also proudly represented our school in the Winter Lightning Premiership held on 11 June. Students competed in either soccer or netball and displayed outstanding enthusiasm, teamwork and determination throughout the day. Regardless of the final results, every student should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive manner in which they represented our school. Their participation, competitiveness, resilience and exceptional sportsmanship were a credit to themselves and to our school community, and I was immensely proud of the way they encouraged one another and embraced the spirit of the competition.
