The same or different? - Yes

At Wednesday worship we looked at who God is.  In particular we looked at whether there was One God or Three Gods (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit).  The answer is "Yes" to both.

Pastor Michael demonstrated this in three ways.

1. Pastor Michael asked a female staff member a few questions. 

• Are you a mother?  Yes.
• Are you a daughter? Yes.
• Are you a sister?  Yes.
• Are you the same person or a different person when you are with your daughter, when you are with your mother, and when you are with your sister? I am the same person, but I relate differently to my daughter, to my mother, and to my sister.

Pastor Michael also asked a male staff member.

• Are you a father? Yes
• Are you are son?  Yes
• Are you are brother?  Yes.

He is the same person, but how he relates to his son is different to how he relates to his father, and is different to how he relates to his brother.

2) Pastor Michael asked three stage 3 students to look in three containers that he had on stage.  

• One container contained water.
• One container contained ice
• One container contained steam (a picture of steam)

He then asked the students if what was in the containers was different or the same.  One student said "different".  The other students said "the same".  They were all telling the truth.  They are all the same - water - but they were in different forms, gas, liquid and solid.  One form is good for ironing clothes, one form is good for drinking, and one form is good for cooling things down.  The same, but different.

3) Pastor Michael then asked everyone who they prayed to when they prayed:

• God.
• God the Father
• God the Son (Jesus)
• God the Holy Spirit.

Lots of hands went up for all 4.  They are the same, but different, and we can have a relationship with the One God, with God the Father, with Jesus, and with the Holy Spirit.  

The same, but different.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
