The Instrumental students continue to keep students calm and relaxed when leaving assembly. We appreciated the hard work that these students dedicate to learning their instrument. What talent!
The Foundation students have enjoyed singing and tapping/clapping to the the fruit and vegetable beats.
The foundation students clap out the rhythm before singing songs to help them have a good understanding of the melody. Great work!
The Year One students have been busy looking at different fruit and vegetable beats. Of course, we counted the rest as well!
After singing and clapping with these beats, students composed their own beat charts using an untuned percussion instrument. I've enjoyed listening to them being played to me whilst I play an accompaniment on the keyboard. Clever work Grade Ones!
The Year Two students listened to the soothing sound of 'Berceuse' by French composer, organist, pianist and teacher, Gabriel Fauré 1845-1924. A In German, a lullaby is a 'berceuse.' The relaxed, dreamy mood of this lullaby is created by the use of long smooth phrases, the 'singing melody' and the soothing rhythm of two beats per bar.
Students gently moved around the room to gentle sound of this beautiful piece played on the organ then, froze in a peaceful sleeping pose whenever the music stopped.
