Welcome to Week 8!
A big thank you to our families for helping make Book Week such a wonderful celebration of reading! We loved seeing the creativity and enthusiasm shown through the fantastic costumes and the excitement students brought to our Book Week activities.
Book Week is a special opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, discover new stories, and share favourite books with others. It was wonderful to see students engaging with literature and embracing the theme with such enthusiasm.
We are coming up to the middle of Charlotte's Web, Wilbur learns that he may be slaughtered when he is older and becomes very worried about his future. His friend Charlotte, a wise and caring spider, promises to help him. To save Wilbur, Charlotte begins weaving special words into her web, including "Some Pig" and "Terrific." The people who visit the farm are amazed by the messages and start to believe that Wilbur is an extraordinary pig.
As Wilbur becomes more well-known, Charlotte continues working hard to protect him. With the help of Templeton the rat, she finds new words to weave into her webs. During this part of the story, students see the importance of friendship, loyalty, and helping others, as Charlotte selflessly uses her talents to support Wilbur when he needs it most.
We have recently completed our unit on 3D objects. Throughout this unit, students explored a variety of three-dimensional shapes and learned to identify and describe their features, including faces, edges, and vertices. Students investigated everyday objects and made connections between real-world items and the 3D shapes they represent.
Through hands-on activities, students sorted, built, and compared shapes such as cubes, rectangular prisms, cylinders, cones, spheres, and pyramids. They developed their mathematical vocabulary and confidence in recognising and describing the properties of different 3D objects. We are now moving into addition and subtraction as the term progresses.
In religion, we are continuing on our focus of mission.

Through our learning, students are developing an understanding that mission is not only something done by missionaries, but a call for all people to share God's love through their words and actions every day.
