Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP)
Bek Tankard
This year we are participating in the Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP) as a way of supporting students who show high ability in Mathematics or Literacy. Current Grade 6 students who are participating in VHAP have been selected for this program based on showing exceeding abilities in Mathematics. VHAP is run by Virtual Schools Victoria and consists of ten-week online courses. Students engage in Webex classes with a VHAP teacher. They can also engage with the course material on Virtual Schools Victoria Online outside of class time. If we find that the program is engaging and extending for our students this semester, we can continue this down the track and expand to include our Grade 5s. VHAP offers programs in Mathematics and Literacy. Here’s a link to find out more:

“I like that I get challenged more in Math and that I’m learning things that we don’t talk about in normal classrooms. I like it cause VHAP extends the learning and it has opportunities for me to be challenged.”
-Charlotte, Grade 6 Student

“We learn about different and challenging topics. I liked to learn about the history of Egyptian Numerals.”
-Ruben, Grade 6 Student
