A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

End of Term Information

A reminder to families that this Thursday 2nd April is the last day of term, with a 2:30pm finish. Our community assembly will begin at 2:10pm.

Term 2 begins on Monday 20th April, however this is a student free day for BNWPS. On this day, teachers will be participating in professional learning linked to our school’s AIP and Instructional Models. Students are not required to attend. Their first day back will be Tuesday 21st April.

We would like to acknowledge all students and teachers for their contributions towards a positive, successful Term 1. Our classrooms have settled into their routines and expectations, we’ve connected during community events such as the open afternoon and Wominjeka picnic, and students have participated in many rich, engaging learning activities, including Guided Playful Inquiry projects and excursions. A special mention to our Foundation students who went to MoPA last week for their very first excursion (see photos below). It was a great success!

We hope you all find time to do the things that fill your bucket over the break, and we look forward to seeing you in Term 2.

Upcoming Dates

You might have noticed that the ‘2026 Key Dates’ section of our newsletter looks different this week. Based on feedback from the community, we have now separated the information on this page into two sections - one with key dates for the current week, and one with key dates for the following five weeks.

We have also received requests to publish the dates of all remaining Student Free Days (SFD), Professional Practice Days (PPD) and Three Way Conferences, to allow families to plan ahead. The following dates are aligned with Department guidelines and have been approved by school council:

Monday 20 April: SFD #2 - Professional Development

Friday 6 Jun: PPD #1 - Collective Professional Practice Day

Thursday 23 July: Three Way Conferences

Monday 2 November: SFD #3 - Assessment & Reporting

Monday 7 December: SFD #4 - 2027 Planning

Please note that on SFDs and PPDs, students are not required at school. On the day of the Three Way Conferences, students attend their conference.
