Co-Curricular

It has been a full and demanding start to the year across the College and indeed, all facets of the Co-Curricular Program. It is worth just pausing for a moment to recognise the collective effort of the St Patrick’s community in making it what it is.
Thank you for your support this year; Term 1 is always a jolt to the system in many ways, and many are in need of a well-earned rest. Your involvement in the various activities across sport, cultural, and justice and formation is so valuable to our boys' experience at the College, and I am sure that they are as grateful for it as I am.
A special thanks to those involved in the Black and Green Aggregate Shield on Saturday. Whether you were coaching, coordinating, serving, or simply spectating, your presence had a meaningful impact on the day. The P&F hosted our community and guests exceptionally well, supported by many SPC staff, and the funds raised for the College were significant.
Thank you also to John Locke for his leadership of the Year 5 and Year 6 Supporters’ Days – the energy and enthusiasm from the boys was outstanding, and the SPC spirit was on full display.
Senior Sport has a detailed overview of our rugby and football fixtures. As a summary, St Patrick’s College retained the Black and Green Shield with 28 wins to Trinity’s 13 across all fixtures. Football recorded 20 wins and 3 draws, while Rugby secured 8 wins from 13 matches. Our Tennis Firsts and Seconds competed strongly against an ever-challenging Trinity Grammar side. Highlights included a dramatic 4–3 victory to the First XI Football in the dying moments on SPC2, and a commanding 33–12 performance from the First XV on Breen Oval against a quality Trinity outfit.
We also had some fantastic news over the weekend; congratulations to our Head of Sport, Mr Tim Donlan and his wife Liv on the arrival of their daughter, Rue Jacqueline Donlan, on 29 March. This is a wonderful blessing for their family, and we share in their first time-parent joy.
Looking ahead, Term 2 will be a rich and diverse event schedule across sport, cultural, and justice and formation. There is much to look forward to – personally, I have my School of Rock crew shirt ready to go.
As we enter the Easter period of both sacrifice and renewal, it is time for stillness, gratitude, and hope.
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” – Matthew 28:6
Have a safe and restful Easter and enjoy this well-deserved time with family and friends.
