For the Principal
It was lovely to see all the students, and parents, when I returned last week from my extended holiday in Canada. We had an amazing time with family and friends, we hiked, drove, saw bears (no moose) and lots of other animals, played, canoed and lots of other things.
I saw a beaver, in the wild, for the very first time.
Thankyou to Mr Shuttleworth for stepping into the principal role in my absence.
This Friday, we will farewell Mrs Dallas. She has been successful in gaining a speech pathology position in Ballarat. Mrs Dallas has completed her degree, whilst also working at Beaufort, over the past 4 years. She will be greatly missed at our school, however, we may still see her around the place in a casual teacher capacity, on her days off.
As we farewell Mrs Dallas, we welcome Mr Ben Tyson. Mr Tyson completed this final placement in Year 5/6 in Term 2, with us, and has been the successful applicant. Mr Tyson will commence in this role tomorrow, ensuring a 3 day hand over with Mrs Dallas.
Last Thursday morning, I took a team of six Year 5 students to Melbourne for the Victorian Maths Challenge. The student took part on a day of maths activities, designed to challenge their thinking, team work skills and overcome obstacles. Although we did not come out on top, our moto for the day was "Do your Best, Don't be the Best" and they all lived up to this. In September our Year 6 team will be taking part in a similar event.
We wish our Year 5/6 students and teachers, including Mrs Belden, all the very best for the Canberra Camp, next week. It really is an amazing experience that lots of students talk about for years to come.
