John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families
We are in the final stretch of our rowing season, with our penultimate All Schools Regatta tomorrow. The Girls’ squad are back in racing mode, with lots of students coming to holiday training to stay in shape, which was pleasing to see. The racing schedule has been uploaded to STACK with all the details you need listed on the app. They are long regattas, and I encourage rowers to bring healthy, plentiful snacks and food options to keep them sustained through the day. The forecast is sunny, so please also remember your sun safety – hats, sunscreen, and seek shade.
Most people have, but please complete your availability for the All Schools Championships on Saturday 8 August ASAP. Entries for that regatta are due next Wednesday, so your coaches need time to put crews together.
Training days
Diamond Fitness will continue to run its sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the first three weeks of school for those squads that attend.
Friday training days
Years 9 and 10 Boys – 7 August
Years 9 and 10 Girls – 31 July
With this in mind, please come to as many sessions as you can so we can boat you in your combinations for the State Championships.
Remember, if you can’t make a session, please email Claire.woolfitt@johnxxiii.edu.au, or jimmy.oregan@johnxxiii.edu.au for the Girls Squad or lauren.strong@johnxxiii.edu.au for the Boys Squad.
House Regatta and Rowing Presentation Dinner
The House Regatta and Presentation Dinner are scheduled on Saturday 29 August. The House Regatta is for students in Years 8 to 12 to have a fun time competing in mixed crews at our Boatshed in the morning, and the Dinner is to celebrate the season for Years 9 to 12. The Dinner will be held in the Thomas More Exhibition Centre and tickets will go on sale shortly. Details will be included in next week's Newsletter.
Year 7 Learn to Row
The sign-up for Year 7 Learn to Row is open. This program commences in Week 5, the week beginning 17 August. The sessions are held in the afternoon at our Canning Bridge Boat Shed. Please email Claire.woolfitt@johnxxiii.edu.au for more information. For those students who have already signed up, sessions will be allocated shortly, and I will let you know via email.
If you wish to sign up, there is still time – please complete this form: Year 7 Learn to Row 2026 – Fill out form
Uniforms
The new zootsuit is now in stock at the Uniform Shop. There is also a training top that can be worn under the zootsuit, and a ¼-zip fleece. The only compulsory item is the Zootsuit for racing at regattas. There is a stock of the old zootsuits that can be worn for training.
Stack Team App
This App is one of our main avenues for communication with rowers and their parents. Please download the ‘Stack Team App’ on your phone, as this is the central place for training schedules, training updates, access to the rowing handbook, to name a few. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.
To get this app please go to the App Store or Google Play and download the Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:
- Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
- Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
Buses
- Pick up: 5:05am at College Bus shelter
