Bushfire Ratings and other Related Information

Bushfire Danger Ratings begin from October 1st 2025. Do you know what they mean for you and your family?
From October 1, The CFA will begin issuing Fire Danger Ratings for the 2025 - 2026 Season.
Fire Danger Ratings are issued daily. The higher the danger, the higher the Fire Rating.
When there is minimal risk, the fire Rating sign will display "No Rating" with the other categories showing Moderate, High, Extreme and Catastrophic.
Each day, the CFA website is updated with a 4-day predicted forecast. You can find the information on their homepage by clicking the button below.

St Joseph's is a BARR-rated school
St Joseph's has a BARR (Bushfire at Risk Register) rating of 2. This means that on Extreme and Catastrophic Days, our school will be closed or relocated and an alternate program will be offered to students. At times, we may also be closed or relocated on some high fire danger days. This may be off-site OR via Learning from Home. More information will follow in regards to the location of the off-site learning in the next couple of weeks. ALL families will be notified by email, NFORMA, Facebook, etc, if the school is to close due to Bushfire risk, hopefully the night before.
Fire Drills for St Joseph's
Each Term, we are mandated to conduct Fire Drills and Emergency Management response drills in the school setting. This Term, we have a Fire Drill - Shelter in Place / Place of Last Resort on Wednesday, 22nd October and an Evacuation procedure planned for November. It is essential that these drills are carried out and that the school community prepares for any such emergency. This is a great way to prepare our staff and students for any upcoming emergencies that may occur.
