The year 5/6 students had a wonderful time at camp, where they tested their courage, resilience and sense of adventure.
On Wednesday morning, all 5/6 students and their teachers left for Phillip Island, "CYC The Island Camp". First stop was San Remo, where everyone got out to stretch their legs have some lunch, play and see the pelicans being fed.
When they arrived at camp, they unloaded the bus, and it was straight into activities. The first activities were The Pinnacle, Giant Swing and Pedal Cars. After this rotation, we had afternoon tea and free time. Then we had dinner and headed off for a nighttime walk along the beach and pier. It was a great night for walking!
The next morning, we were up early, had breakfast and were straight into the activities. The activities for Thursday began with a beachcombing activity and a ranger talk. We headed off to the beach again, but today was extremely windy! So windy in fact that we had to head to a sheltered beach so that the sand did not sting us as it was whipped up in the wind. We met with Ranger Sue, who explained a lot about the beach, some items of significance and how we could look after the environment. It then began to rain, so we headed back to camp.
In the afternoon, after lunch, we did some more rotations of the circatron, mechanical wall and archery. After Dinner, we all got ready to go to the penguin parade. There were a lot of people at the penguin parade, and we soon settled in to watch and wait for the penguins to arrive. Soon we saw little black and white objects appear from the water to make their way home.
The next morning we packed up for home, and had breakfast and completed our last rotations. Before heading home we had some games and then visited the Chocolate Factory for lunch and had a tour of how chocolate is made.
We then had our trip back to school. It was a great time away!
