Prayer & Catholic Identity

In our classrooms the children are learning about 'Lent and Easter'. This begins with recalling what they know already and then building on their knowledge and understanding. In Grade 1R a big question that came up was 'What does Lent mean?'.
By the end of the lesson the children came up with this definition: Lent is a time when we try to become better people by praying, fasting and giving. It is a time when we prepare for Easter.
150 Years of Benalla Catholic Parish Jubilee Prayer
Loving God, we praise and thank You for the gift of 150 years of faith, hope, and love in Benalla Catholic Parish, within the Diocese of Sandhurst.
We remember with gratitude all those who came before us-the pioneers, priests, religious and faithful people who built this parish through prayer, sacrifice, and trust in you. May their lives inspire us to remain faithful witnesses of the Gospel.
We place our Parish under the gentle care of St Joseph, our patron and protector. Teach us like him, to listen attentively to Your will, to serve with humility, and to live with courage and quiet faith.
As we journey toward our Jubilee celebration, renew our hearts and deepen our unity as one parish family. Strengthen our commitment to prayer, service and mission, so that we may joyfully pass on the faith to future generations. Bless our families, our young people, the elderly and the sick. Guide our leaders and all who serve in this parish.
May this Jubilee be a time of renewal, gratitude and hope, as we continue to walk together in Your love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord
Amen
Have you heard of Caritas' Project Compassion?
The theme of Project Compassion 2026, Unite Against Poverty, is both a call to action and a reminder that lasting change happens when we work together. Serving those in need is how this call comes alive.
Jesus reminds us that when we care for those who are vulnerable, we are serving Him. Lent invites us to respond through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Through Project Compassion, we live out this call together. Alone, we can make a difference, but united, we can transform lives.
Max J. has raised $125.00 by asking family, friends and neighbours (door knocking with Mum and Dad) to help raise funds for Caritas. Thank you for your efforts Max and Family.
Families are invited to attend our Feast of St Joseph Mass on Thursday 19th March at 10:00am in the Church. At the conclusion of Mass, families and friends are invited to join us for our MINI FETE. All the money raised at the mini fete will go to Caritas' Project Compassion.
On Sunday 22nd March at 9:30am we have the opportunity to celebrate the Feast of St Joseph through a School/Parish Mass. The children will be participating in reading, the offertory and choir. This mass is one of a series of events that are taking place to celebrate St. Joseph's Parish Jubilee Year - 150 Years. We warmly invite our school community to attend.
