Our Year 5/6 students were outside enjoying the sunshine this morning during our sport session. Walking around, there was a lot of teamwork, fun and laughter!!!

Last Monday our girls volleyball team travelled to Diamond Valley to compete in the Division Volleyball Tournament. The girls worked hard and displayed great teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience. They continued to encourage each other and showed significant improvement throughout the day. Well done!

Last Thursday our boys/mixed basketball team travelled to Mill Park to participate in the Division Basketball Tournament. The team showed fantastic communication in both offence and defence and worked as a team in every game. The team finished 3rd overall, which is a great achievement.

Tara Watson is a former student of Whittlesea Primary School and, during her time at Whittlesea, represented the school in Netball and other sports. In her final year at Whittlesea Primary, Tara and the other girls won the district and then division netball but were defeated at the regional playoffs.
In 2025, Tara made her debut in Super Netball for the Melbourne Vixens in the Preliminary Final, coming on during the third quarter for a short time but providing the Vixens with the impact that they needed at that moment, assisting them to win and progress to the Grand Final, which they won, taking out the championship. Tara has represented Victoria in several State Championships and was selected in the Young Aussie team that travelled to Tonga, where she unfortunately injured her knee, which kept her out of the 2026 Super Netball Season. In the last month, Tara has been announced as a training partner for the new-look Melbourne Vixens for the 2027 Super Netball Season.
Tara is always generous with her time, loves giving back to the school when she can, and has given her support and named the new WPS netball tournament the Tara Watson Cup.
Three teams have been chosen by three Year 6 students, each made up of Year 5, 4, and 3 students. They will compete this term, culminating in a Grand Final between the two top teams, where Tara intends to present the winning trophy to the Winners.
Wednesday saw the inaugural match of the new Tara Watson Cup played between the Cyclones and the Thunder. First up nerves were present at the start of the match with the ball travelling up and down the court before Cyclones, through Brylie C opened the scoring. There were no further scores in the first six-minute half, and both teams went into half-time making changes to their line-ups and allowing Coaches Hunter-Rose (Cyclones) and Lottie (Thunder) to talk tactics. The second half saw improvement from both teams, with changes making an immediate impact. Thunder, through Baylah C, scored first and followed up with another goal from Hudson M to take a 2 – 1 lead. Cyclones made changes to their goal circle lineup and then took charge, scoring 3 goals from seven shots. Cyclones held on for their first win of the season, 4 – 2.
Best players:
Cyclones – Brylie C, Phoebe S, Mia M
Thunder – Skylar R, Baylah C, Keagan B

Dhulin are still the lead to start off Term 4, but there is plenty of time for all other houses to catch up and take the lead!!!
