All Year 9 Catholic College students had a unique opportunity to attend the Explore Your Paths Career Expo in Bairnsdale to explore future pathways and gain valuable insight into careers available right here in Gippsland.

The Expo featured a diverse range of regional businesses, training providers, and industry professionals showcasing opportunities across key sectors including:

  • Trades & Apprenticeships
  • Health & Community Services
  • Agriculture & Primary Industries
  • Emergency Services
  • Defence & Public Services
  • Education & Training

This was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 9 students to connect directly with employers and providers, ask questions, and begin shaping informed pathway decisions.

  • Hydraulics
  • Ejection Seats
  • Airframes

  • Engines
  • Ground Equipment
  • Parts & Inventory

To finish off the morning the students looked at Southern Aircraft Services which involved a facility visit and discussion around Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul and how important these aspects are for a career pathway.

After the lunch the students were given the opportunity to visit the ESSO Heliport, Longford. The students watch passenger helicopter take-off, overview of operations and a guided facility tour (including hangar). Year 11 University Camp - Melbourne

Our Year 11 students recently took part in a two-day university camp in Melbourne, visiting Monash University and Australian Catholic University on the first day, followed by RMIT University and Deakin University on the second day.

Throughout the camp, students participated in a range of engaging activities, toured campuses and accommodation facilities, and gained valuable insight into university life, study options and future career pathways. The experience encouraged students to start thinking about their post-school opportunities, build confidence in navigating tertiary education, and understand the independence and responsibilities that come with university study. Students also enjoyed spending time together exploring the city of Melbourne and sharing dinner as a group, making the camp both educational and memorable.

Morrisby - Year 9

Our Year 9 students are currently completing their Morrisby profiling assessments as part of their careers education program. The Morrisby profiling process helps students gain a better understanding of their strengths, interests, learning preferences and possible future career pathways. In the coming weeks, students will participate in individual interviews with a trained teacher to review and discuss their results, helping them begin to make informed decisions about future subject selections, career options and pathways beyond school.

We wanted to let you know about a free online event coming up in May that may be helpful for your family.

The event is free and run by Choosing Your Uni, an independent platform that helps students figure out what to study. It's not connected to any particular university, so the information is unbiased.

Sessions are available live and on demand, so your family can watch at a time that suits you. You're welcome to watch together or explore separately.

How to register:

Registration takes less than a minute and ensures you receive session reminders and access to recordings after the event.
