Our School Values

At Jells Park Primary School, everything we do is guided by our core values of Respect, Resilience, Honesty and Excellence

These values shape our culture, inform our expectations, and support every child to grow not only as a learner, but as a confident, caring member of the community. We believe that when school and home work together to reinforce these values, children thrive.

Respect

Respect is the foundation of positive relationships. At school, we teach students to respect themselves, others and the environment. This means using kind words, listening actively, celebrating differences and taking care of shared spaces. We encourage students to show respect even when opinions differ or challenges arise. By modelling respectful behaviour, we help children develop empathy, self-awareness and strong social skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

Resilience

Learning and life are not always easy, and that’s where resilience comes in. We want our students to understand that it’s okay to make mistakes and that effort and persistence are key to success. At school, students are supported to try new strategies, reflect on what didn’t work, and keep going—even when something feels difficult. Building resilience helps children develop confidence, problem-solving skills and a positive mindset towards learning and life’s challenges.

Honesty

Honesty builds trust and integrity. We encourage students to be truthful, take responsibility for their actions and make positive choices—even when it’s hard to do so. This includes acknowledging mistakes, learning from them and trying again. By fostering honesty, we help children develop strong moral values and a sense of accountability, creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone.

Excellence

Excellence doesn’t mean being perfect—it means striving to do your best. We celebrate effort, improvement and personal growth. Students are encouraged to set goals, take pride in their learning and push themselves to achieve their personal best, both academically and socially. Excellence looks different for every child, and we value the unique strengths and achievements each student brings.

Parents and carers play an important role in reinforcing these values at home. Simple conversations about respect, encouragement to persevere, praise for honesty and recognition of effort all make a powerful difference.

Together, by living and modelling Respect, Resilience, Honesty and Excellence, we are preparing our students to succeed at school and beyond.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to build a strong, values-driven school community.
