Last week, our Foundation students experienced their very first incursion!

We were lucky to have Caroline and Philip visit Jells Park and deliver a hilarious and engaging performance. Their performance celebrated each student’s uniqueness while exploring a range of important themes, including - friendship, diversity, acceptance and appreciating our skills and talents. The show also highlighted the value of self-esteem and teamwork in a fun and meaningful way.

We’ve never heard the students laugh so much and they impressed us with their incredible acting skills!

Level 1 students recently put their imagination and problem-solving skills into high gear as part of our STEM and Inquiry Unit, designing and building their very own “futuristic cars” using everyday materials.

Cardboard boxes became sleek vehicle bodies, paper plates were transformed into steering wheels, and a splash of paint brought each unique creation to life.

To celebrate their hard work, we transformed the school gym into an old-fashioned drive-in movie theatre. Students proudly “drove” their handmade cars into the space, parking alongside friends to enjoy a shared movie experience. There was lots of excitement, laughter, and a strong sense of accomplishment.

Our Level 2 students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to the planetarium! Throughout the visit, students explored the wonders of space, learning about the sun, moon, stars and planets. They were fascinated by the immersive dome show, which helped bring concepts like day and night and the movement of Earth to life.

Students demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm, asking thoughtful questions and making connections to our classroom learning about space.

It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience and a memorable day for all!

This fortnight, the Level 3 students tackled their very first NAPLAN tests.

Each and every student worked wonderfully to complete each test to the best of their abilities, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts and resilience throughout the week.

In SEL, students have been learning about personal strengths and how to identify these within themselves. It has been wonderful to see students recognising the positive qualities that make them unique.

In Inquiry, we have begun planting our beans to see if they will grow.

Students have really enjoyed the process and are very excited to observe what happens over the coming weeks.

Last week, the Level 4 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Scienceworks as part of their Science Inquiry unit ‘Rock On’.

Throughout the day, students explored forces, energy and motion through a range of interactive exhibitions and workshops. A highlight was the Blast Off- Rockets and Forces session in the Energy Lab, where students observed demonstrations showing how rockets launch and how forces act on objects.

Students also explored the Sportsworks and Think Ahead exhibitions, where they tested their skills through hands-on challenges and problem-solving activities.

The Planetarium show was another highlight where students followed Tycho the dog on a journey to Mars and learned about the planet’s features, including giant volcanoes, deep canyons and the search for water on the red planet.

The excursion was a fun and engaging way for students to see science in action.

The Level 5 students have been busy preparing for their upcoming World Fair, with each class focusing on a different continent (Asia, South America & Africa).

In groups, students have researched a country and are now creating engaging, interactive market stalls using a variety of presentation methods. See some of the posters they are putting together!

Parents are invited to attend the Level 5’s presentation of the World Fair, on Thursday 2nd April from 9:45-10:45am, to see all their hard work.

Level 6’s Egg drop project continues as students create their own grassheads which they look after for 2 weeks. Each day the Grasshead arrives and departs school safely students earn points towards their score for Egg Drop.

On March 10th Level 6 students started growing grass heads as one of our Homework tasks. We had to bring it to and from school every day and also water it. Most of our grass heads have already sprouted or have grass in it.

We also got to decorate it but it has to be linked to our person that we are doing for our egg drop.
