Parking

It is incredibly frustrating for me to have to address parking around the school and repeatedly challenge parents that are openly flouting parking regulations. I would prefer to be focusing on your children, not your parking.

Can I re-iterate:

  • Parents are NOT permitted to park in the Staff car park or behind the gym until after 4.00pm. If you do, you block access, prevent staff from parking or leaving, and create a potential danger for students walking across the footpaths.
  • Most importantly, please do not ever block our emergency access (gates) - this is pretty commonsense that seems to be ignored a lot.
  • Please SLOW DOWN around the school - I have noticed, and the Crossing Supervisor has had issues with, the number of people zipping through the crossing on Petronella Ave. We have had too many near misses that we do not want to turn into a tradgedy.

Please show the respect required of a community that works together and supports the school. I hate being the drill seargent on this topic so please help out by doing the right thing.

Student Expectations

Following the short presentation by Student Leaders at assembly last Monday, can I re-iterate their message about:

  • Tying up hair - this is a health issue to prevent lice spread. Please ensure any hair longer than shoulder length is tied up or kept back with a headband.
  • Make up and fake nails - should not be worn at school - it is not necessary or appropriate.
  • Colored Hair - again, not necessary or appropriate.
  • Non-uniform clothing - may be worn to school (eg; a warm jacket) but removed when the student gets here. We have plenty of options in the uniform range.
  • Coloured socks, headbands, bows, etc - please stick to the school colours of red, navy blue, with white or black accessories.

Important Reminders / notes:

Canteen: parents are remindered that students should only have up to $5 (preferably in coins) to purchase items from the canteen window. The canteen staff have been instructed to notify school staff if students have large sums of money to spend.

Autism understanding and acceptance at JPPS

April is recognised worldwide as a month to promote better understanding of autism. It kicks off with the United Nations’ World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April 2026. In Australia, the focus is moving from awareness to understanding and acceptance.

Our school is committed to building understanding of autism so we can better include and support autistic students every day.

At JPPS we proudly deliver the 6 pillars of support outlined in the Department of Education’s Autism Education Strategy. Please have a look at the information provided in the link and please come and see me if you would like to dicuss any aspect of how we support autistic students at JPPS.

Family Fun Night - TOMORROW!

The Jells Park Parent Committee (JPPC) invite all families to join them for a picnic on the oval on Friday 20th March, 5 - 6.30pm. Please refer to the flyer on the JPPC page.

Have a wonderful weekend!
