Maths Challenge

A Maths Challenge Afternoon was held on 4 September with Simonds College where our top ten Year 7 and 8 students were selected to put their problem-solving, teamwork and critical thinking skills to the test.  It was fantastic to see those involved working together, thinking creatively and showing that maths is not just about numbers – it’s about persistence, logic and collaboration.

I’d like to thank all the staff and students who were involved in making the day such a success.  A special thank you to the Year 10 helpers, Mr Eric Chan, Ms Fabiola Salvo and Mr Madur Gogia for their organisation, set up and support.

Now, to the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the results!

In third place, we had the Academy Year 8, Team 1 - Congratulations to Maya H and Samantha K.

In second place, we had Academy Year 7, Team 3 - Well done to Abi B and Ming L on an excellent effort.

And in first place, the winners of the 2026 Junior Maths Challenge Day were Year 8, Team 2 - Lauren H and Leilani D  A huge congratulations!

It is always exciting to walk away with a win.  Go Academy!!!!!!
