Junior

The Junior Team enjoyed a successful day of competition, recording two wins, two draws and just one loss to secure a place in the grand final.   Although Ave Maria College ultimately claimed the trophy, our team was highly competitive throughout the tournament and demonstrated great determination and sportsmanship.  A special mention goes to Emily D L, who played on the wing and consistently pushed forward whenever the opportunity arose, scoring several crucial goals for the team.

Intermediate

The Intermediates won the Grand Final!   A superb effort from all ten players.

Throughout the six games, despite the appalling conditions, unrelenting wind and icy rain, despite the fact we played one short for all six games and despite the bruising and heavy opposition, none of the players complained or asked for a rest and all played the type of Academy soccer Mr Odachowski has set as the standard for the Academy Soccer Program throughout the long day.  

Olivia N was unbeatable in defence, well supported by her good mate Angela M.  Ava V was a rock in goals conceding nothing and creating many opportunities.  Zara B, Tijana F L and Willow H were reliable both in defence and in the midfield, thwarting many opposition advances and creating opportunities for the forwards.  Eva R, having volunteered from the Juniors, played some uncompromising football on the wing and Sophie F, once again from the Juniors, displayed some true class scoring three goals. Eleni K was dominant in the midfield, creating many attacking chances and Madi MacL had an excellent tournament, always looking dangerous and scoring three goals herself.

A marvellous effort of which they can all be most proud.

Senior

The Senior Team displayed outstanding team spirit, with their enthusiasm and encouragement echoing across the grounds.  Every player contributed strongly, resulting in several closely contested matches.  A special mention goes to Ivana M, who scored a spectacular goal directly from a corner kick.   It was impressive to watch the ball curve through the air and sail into the goal, much to the delight of her teammates and supporters.  The team finished 3rd overall for the competition.
