EISM Sport - Badminton Girls Are Premiers

It was a great effort by our Year 8 and 9 Boys and Girls Badminton teams as they finished the season as Premiers. Congratulations! It was also a great effort by our Y8/9 Girls Softball, Girls Netball and Mix Tennis teams, who were runners-up at the end of the season, both just fell short of a win in the Grand Finals. Congratulations to all these teams on a great season.

The Year 7s had a great last term in EISM Sport with both Boys and Girls Netball teams finishing on top of the ladder. The other teams also did well with some finishing second or third on the ladder. Congratulations to all Year 7s for putting in such a great effort throughout the year and particularly during Term 4. We are looking forward to seeing you keep improving next year. All the students who represented Oxley during this term did the College proud with good behaviour and sportsmanship.

The Year 8/9 teams who participated in EISM team sport during Term 3 and 4 were acknowledged during a special Sport Assembly in the Stadium on Thursday 30 November after the Grand Finals. The following students received medals for Most Valuable (MVP) and Best Team Player (BTP).

Year 7s will start their trials for EISM Sport on Monday 4 March in preparation for their EISM competition that will start in Term 2.

Congratulations to all our students for your contribution to sport in 2023, especially those who served as captains for their teams and who received MVP and BTP medals. A big thank you to all our Year 12 students who willingly gave up their time to represent Oxley in their final year. Thanks to all our students for the way you represented the College this year.

Let us make 2024 an even bigger year in Oxley Sport by keeping fit during the holidays.

2023 Olympic Change-Maker Awards

Congratulations to Une Geisler (11.13) who is the 2023 Oxley nominee and recipient of the Australian Olympic Change-Maker Award for 2023. It is the second year in a row that Oxley nominate a swimmer for this award. Last year, Dakoda Mathers (12.7), was the recipient of this award.

The Australian Olympic Change-Maker program recognises secondary students from around the country each year who demonstrate the Olympic spirit – friendship, sportsmanship and striving for excellence – both on and off the playing field, through leadership and driving positive change in their school and local communities.

The Change-Maker program provides students with the opportunity to share their ideas, connect with other like-minded people and be immersed in a unique Olympic experience, hearing first-hand from Olympians.

Since commencing in Year 7, Une has broken several records at the EISM Swimming Championships every year and has represented the College at National level. His dedication to swimming and the role model he is to our younger students makes him a worthy recipient of this award.

Une received an invitation to the Change-Maker Forum and a Certificate of Recognition. He was also encouraged to submit a one-minute video expressing his interest in attending the National Summit.

I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
